Cornhole Bean Bag Toss Game Rental in DFW Texas

Cornhole is the backyard game that every adult at your event already knows, already has an opinion about, and will immediately want to play the moment they see the boards set up. Two teams of two players. Partners at opposite boards, 27 feet apart, facing each other. Each player tosses four bean bags per round, alternating with the opposing team's player at the same end, trying to land bags through the 6-inch hole for 3 points or on the board face for 2 points. The round score is calculated by cancellation — only the difference between the two teams' scores counts. First team to 21 wins. That combination of familiar mechanics, team strategy, and the satisfying thunk of a bag dropping through the hole is why cornhole has become the defining outdoor party game of the last two decades. Inflatable Party Magic delivers regulation cornhole boards throughout the DFW metroplex, including Fort Worth game rentals and Cleburne party rentals, as part of our full lineup of interactive game rentals in DFW Texas.

The cancellation scoring system is the part of cornhole that most casual players either misunderstand or skip entirely, and it is the part that makes the game genuinely competitive rather than just a score-adding exercise. If Red scores 6 in a round and Blue scores 4, only 2 points transfer to Red — Blue's 4 cancel out 4 of Red's 6. In close competition, the score can stay frozen for multiple rounds while both teams' throws cancel each other out. That mechanic creates sustained tension across the entire game, rewards consistency over individual big throws, and is why competitive cornhole players are remarkably hard to beat even when a less-skilled team occasionally lands a lucky hole shot. We deliver across the full DFW area including Mansfield party rentals.

The cornhole boards in this rental are set up at the regulation 27-foot distance from front edge to front edge. Many casual backyard sets play at shorter distances — the regulation distance is what makes the game a genuine skill challenge rather than a near-certain score each turn. It also means that any competitive players at your event are playing the same game they practice at home or at tournaments, which matters for the adults who take their cornhole seriously. Works indoors when the weather forces the party inside — a gymnasium or large fellowship hall gives you the 30+ feet of clear floor space needed to set up regulation distance. Pair it with the Ladder Ball game or Golf Yard Pong for a complete outdoor social game station at any event.

Why Cornhole Is the Game Every Adult at Your Event Already Wants to Play

The Game Everyone Already Knows — Zero Explanation Needed

Every adult at your event has played cornhole before. No rules explanation, no learning curve, no "wait, how does scoring work again" moment that stalls the game before it starts. Guests see the boards, find a partner, and start throwing. That zero-friction start is something very few games in the catalog can offer — and it is why cornhole generates the longest sustained play sessions of any game at backyard and tailgate events.

Cancellation Scoring — The Rule That Makes It Genuinely Competitive

Most casual players either do not know cancellation scoring exists or quietly skip it. They should not. Only the point difference between the two teams' round scores counts — if Red throws 6 points and Blue throws 4, Red earns 2 points for that round, not 6. In close games, the score barely moves for long stretches as strong teams cancel each other out. This is the mechanic that separates competitive cornhole from backyard casually-adding-up-points cornhole.

Regulation 27-Foot Distance — The Setup That Matters

Regulation cornhole boards are set 27 feet apart from front edge to front edge. Many casual sets play at 15 to 20 feet, which makes landing on the board nearly automatic for any adult. At 27 feet, the board face requires real arm and aim, and the hole requires genuine precision. Inflatable Party Magic sets up at regulation distance — which means any competitive players at your event are playing the real game, not a shortened version of it.

Partners at Opposite Boards — A Social Format No Other Game Matches

In doubles play, each team's two partners stand at opposite boards facing each other. One teammate is throwing toward you while you throw toward them — the game runs simultaneously from both ends. That format keeps all four players active in every round, eliminates the waiting-in-line dynamic, and creates natural partner communication and celebration that makes doubles cornhole a social event as much as a competition.

Works Indoors When the Weather Turns

Texas summer afternoons are unpredictable. The cornhole boards move indoors into any gymnasium, large fellowship hall, or open event space with enough floor length for 27-foot regulation play. No electricity required, no special surface needed. When the rain arrives or the heat becomes unplayable, the boards come inside and the game continues without interruption.

Different From Every Other Bean Bag Game in the Catalog

Fat Cats, Can Toss, Crazy Hat, and Wak A Rat all use bean bags — but those are carnival booth games where one player throws at a stationary target from close range. Cornhole is a regulation-distance head-to-head team competition on angled boards. The bean bag is the only shared element. The format, the distance, the strategy, the team structure, and the competitive stakes are all completely different from any carnival booth in the lineup.

How to Play Cornhole — Full Rules and Scoring

Setup

Place the two cornhole boards exactly 27 feet apart, front edge to front edge. In doubles play, one player from each team stands at each board — partners face each other across the lane. In singles play, both players stand at the same end and alternate throwing toward the opposite board. Each team has 4 bags in their color. A coin toss determines who throws first. All 8 bags start at one end.

Throwing

Players alternate throws — one bag from Team A, one bag from Team B, until all 8 bags have been thrown. Players must not cross the foul line (the front edge of the board) during a throw. A bag that touches the ground before landing on the board does not count. A bag knocked onto the board by another bag that bounced from the ground also does not count.

Scoring

A bag through the hole scores 3 points. A bag landing and staying on the board face scores 2 points. Bags that miss or touch the ground do not score. After all bags are thrown, apply cancellation scoring: subtract the lower team's round score from the higher team's. Only the difference counts. The winning team earns that difference in points. If both teams score equally in a round, neither earns points.

Winning

The first team to reach exactly 21 points wins. Unlike Ladder Ball, there is no bust rule in standard cornhole — going over 21 counts and the game is won at 21 or above. The team that wins a round throws first in the next round. If the round is tied, the throwing order does not change. With 8 hours of rental time, run a full tournament bracket across the afternoon.

Cancellation Scoring Example

Red team lands 2 bags on the board face (4 pts) and 1 through the hole (3 pts) for a round total of 7 points. Blue team lands 3 bags on the board face (6 pts). Cancellation: subtract Blue's 6 from Red's 7 — Red earns 1 point for the round. Blue earns nothing. Running totals update: Red +1. In close games, the score barely moves while both teams cancel each other out round after round — this is the part that makes experienced cornhole players so hard to beat.

Setup Requirements and How to Book Cornhole

Space Requirements

The two cornhole boards are set 27 feet apart from front edge to front edge at regulation distance. Each board platform is 24 inches wide by 48 inches long. Allow throwing space behind each board for the players standing at that end — typically 3 to 5 feet behind the board edge per player. A clear lane of approximately 35 to 40 feet total length covers the boards and throwing space. Works on flat grass, pavement, or any level surface outdoors. No staking required. For indoor setup, a gymnasium or large open space with a clear floor length of 40 feet and no overhead obstructions is ideal.

No Electricity or Water Required

Cornhole is completely self-sufficient. No electrical outlet, no generator, no water connection. The boards, the bags, and a flat surface are everything you need. This makes cornhole one of the most reliably deployable games in the catalog — no infrastructure required, no dependency on available outlets, no limitations based on the venue's utilities. Drop it anywhere flat and you are ready to play.

How to Book Online

Click "Add to Cart" on the product page. Enter your event date, delivery address, and setup location. A $50 deposit holds your reservation and applies toward your total. You will receive an automatic email confirmation. Cornhole pairs naturally with other outdoor games — call (817) 800-8618 to add it to an existing order or bundle it with a Ladder Ball game, Golf Yard Pong, or inflatables as part of a complete event package.

Self-Managed — No Volunteer Required

Cornhole is entirely self-managing. Players call their own scores, track their own running totals, and rotate in their own challengers — exactly the way the game has always worked. No dedicated volunteer or supervisor is needed at the boards. Inflatable Party Magic delivers, sets up at regulation distance, and takes down at the end of your rental window. Everything that happens between setup and takedown runs itself. Read our safety standards page for equipment care details.

Best Events for Cornhole in Fort Worth and DFW Texas

Corporate Events and Company Picnics

Cornhole is the most reliable adult game at any corporate event rental setup — everyone knows it, it requires no explanation, and it runs without any staff management. The doubles format creates natural team pairings that put colleagues from different departments together. Run a bracket tournament across the afternoon and it provides organized competitive structure with zero preparation needed from organizers.

Wedding Receptions and Rehearsal Dinners

Cornhole is one of the most popular outdoor wedding games precisely because it works for every demographic at a wedding reception — grandparents, parents, teens, and children all know the game and can play comfortably. It keeps guests engaged during cocktail hours and the long stretches between ceremony and dinner without requiring any formal structure. Low noise, no mess, no injuries, zero drama.

Fourth of July and Summer Cookouts

Cornhole and the Fourth of July belong together the way fireworks and potato salad do. Set up the boards beside the grill area and they run continuously from the time the first guest arrives until the last person leaves. The game survives weather transitions — if it gets too hot, it moves inside. Works through Texas heat and into the cooler evening hours.

Family Reunions

Cornhole is built for family reunions. Every generation has played it. The team format lets parents partner with children, aunts with nephews, grandparents with grandchildren. The game creates natural cross-generational pairings and the competitive matches — even when deeply informal — become the most talked-about moments of the day. The family rivalry that existed at last year's reunion continues this year at the boards.

Birthday Parties for Adults and Teens

Adult milestone birthdays and teen outdoor celebrations both benefit from cornhole alongside a main attraction. Pair it with an adult water slide rental for a complete summer party — the slide for the physically competitive guests and cornhole for the socially competitive ones who prefer a drink in their non-throwing hand.

HOA Events and Block Parties

Block parties and HOA community events need a game that runs itself and fills dead time between the organized activities. Cornhole is that game. Set it up, leave it, and it runs for eight hours with rotating groups of neighbors playing and watching. The neighbor who wins three straight games becomes the unofficial block cornhole champion — a title that carries genuine neighborhood weight.

College Events and Greek Life

Campus organizations at TCU and DFW-area colleges use cornhole at lawn events and cookouts for the same reason it works everywhere else — everyone knows it, everyone is immediately competitive about it, and no one needs to explain the rules. A posted tournament bracket with team names drives college event entertainment all afternoon.

Church Fellowship Events

Cornhole is clean, quiet, all-ages, and appropriate for every church event from outdoor summer fellowship to indoor winter gather. The boards move inside for fellowship hall events when outdoor space is limited. See our church and youth group event ideas for complete planning guidance. The team format pairs congregation members naturally and generates friendly community competition.

Our Party-First Cancellation and Weather Philosophy

Weather Happens

Texas weather does not care about your event date. We offer flexible rain checks with no penalties when weather forces a cancellation. Your deposit rolls forward to your rescheduled date. Cornhole also moves indoors — so light rain may not stop the game at all.

Empathy Over Logistics

We lead with kindness and find solutions, not excuses. If something goes wrong with your rental, we make it right. Chanda McFarland runs this company as a parent and neighbor, not a faceless corporation.

The Magic Standard

We treat every delivery like it is for our own family. That standard has earned us over 1,200 five-star Google reviews from DFW families, churches, schools, and businesses since 2002.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Cornhole Bean Bag Toss Rental

What is cancellation scoring and why does it matter?

Cancellation scoring means only the difference between the two teams' round scores counts toward the running total. If Red scores 7 points in a round and Blue scores 5, Red earns 2 points — not 7. Blue earns nothing. If both teams score equally, neither earns points for that round. This mechanic is what makes experienced players so hard to beat — they can cancel your strong rounds repeatedly, keeping the score frozen while waiting for you to have a weak round that they can capitalize on. Most casual players either do not know this rule or quietly skip it. Competitive players always use it. It is the rule that turns cornhole from a score-adding exercise into an actual strategic competition.

How is cornhole different from the bean bag games in the carnival game lineup?

The only thing cornhole shares with Fat Cats, Can Toss, Crazy Hat, and Wak A Rat is the bean bag. Everything else is different. Those are carnival booth games — one player stands close and throws at a stationary vertical target. Cornhole is a regulation-distance head-to-head team competition where partners stand at opposite boards 27 feet apart and alternate throws in a structured round format with cancellation scoring. The format, the distance, the strategy, the team structure, and the competitive depth are all completely unlike any carnival booth game in the lineup.

How far apart are the boards set up?

Inflatable Party Magic sets up the cornhole boards at the regulation distance of 27 feet from front edge to front edge. This is the standard competitive distance used in organized cornhole tournaments and leagues. Many casual backyard setups use a shorter distance that makes landing on the board nearly automatic — the regulation 27-foot distance is what produces the genuine skill challenge that makes the game worth playing competitively. Players who regularly play at regulation distance will find this setup feels exactly like home.

Can cornhole be played indoors?

Yes — cornhole works indoors in any space with a clear floor length of approximately 35 to 40 feet and no overhead obstructions in the throwing path. Gymnasium floors, large fellowship halls, hotel ballrooms, and open corporate event spaces all accommodate it. The boards sit flat on any surface, require no anchoring, and the bean bags are soft enough to be appropriate indoors without damage risk. When Texas weather forces the party inside, the cornhole boards come in with no modification needed. Review our what to expect on event day page for setup guidance on indoor games.

How many people can play cornhole at the same time?

Cornhole plays as 4 people (doubles — 2 teams of 2) or 2 people (singles). For events with larger groups, run a winner-stays challenge format or a bracket tournament where teams play complete games and rotate. A doubles cornhole tournament bracket can cycle 8 teams through organized competitive rounds across a standard 8-hour rental. Each game runs as long as needed, and the format scales easily from a casual two-family cookout to a 20-team HOA championship.
