The cocktail table became a party staple in the 1920s — a smaller, taller round table designed for guests to gather around while standing. At 42 inches tall, guests stand at the table at full upright height, elbows on the surface, drinks within reach. The smaller 30-inch round top keeps the group close together — three to four people standing around a cocktail table are naturally in conversation range with each other. No chairs required, no seating arrangements to manage.

30" vs 42" — Which Height for Your Event?

At 42 inches: true bar height, designed for standing adults. Guests lean on the table comfortably at full height. Right for pure cocktail hours, outdoor receptions, and standing-only event configurations. At 30 inches: counter height, better for mixed settings where guests may be sitting nearby on bar stools or in chairs while others stand. Wood Grain Top — Presentable Without a Drape

Cheaper cocktail table rentals use plastic tops with folding metal stand bases — the kind that look like folding equipment regardless of the drape you put over them. Our cocktail tables have a commercial-grade wood grain top and a metal pedestal base with no folding mechanism showing. At most events, you can leave them uncovered and they look intentional and appropriate. For upscale receptions and formal cocktail hours, a fitted drape tied with your accent color transforms them into a décor element.
