Mission Briefing — Enter the Course

Both competitors step into their parallel lanes at the entry supervisor's signal. The space shuttle design surrounds them from the first step. The race begins simultaneously — both astronauts launch at the same moment.

Navigate the Obstacles

Space and Access Requirements

The Space Shuttle course needs 54 feet of length and 17 feet of width on flat, level ground — clear of trees, power lines, fences, and overhead obstructions. The 54-foot setup length fits in more backyards and venue spaces than any course from the 60-foot courses upward. Grass is ideal for staking. Concrete and asphalt work with sandbag anchoring. Electrical Requirements — Two 12-Amp Circuits

Two separate 110v outlets on two separate 12-amp breaker circuits within 100 feet of the setup location. We bring our own rated 100-foot extension cords — you do not need to provide them. Two 12-amp circuits on separate breakers is all that's required. Most residential panels handle this without any adjustment. Supervision and Safety for Young Competitors

Two adult supervisors are required — one at the entry, one at the 15-foot slide finish. Because the Space Shuttle accommodates children from age 3, entry supervision is especially important: the entry supervisor confirms each child is appropriate for the obstacles before their run begins.
